Tips For Keeping Your Bookkeeping Organized (continued)

Continuing to keep your books in order will ensure you will not have many headaches down the road.

My final three tips to keeping your books organized are all general practices that are good to follow. This is a continued list from last month’s blog so if you’d like to start from the beginning then take a look here.

  1. Keep all of your paperwork and consider scanning.

Keeping track of your receipts and bills are crucial to small business. In today’s world of technology, you can use your phone to take a picture and save it as a scanned pdf through numerous mobile apps such as CamScanner and TurboScan.

  2. Find a system that works for accounts receivable.

Always ensure you implement a system for recording whether or not your clients have paid your accounts receivable. It’s equally important to track the unpaid debts, so you can follow up promptly.

  3. Review, review, review your books.

Be sure to review your books often to ensure that everything is in place. The sooner you catch a mistake, the easier it will be to fix it. Reviewing your books also gives you a finger on the pulse of your business to see how well you are doing or if you are struggling.
