Four Holiday Budgeting Tips
As the holidays approach, many of us have a long list of items we need to purchase. Gifts, items for your family meal, and decorations are common purchases we make every year. It can be hard limiting your money during this time of the year. Here are four budgeting tips to help you save this holiday season.
Budget per person. If you have kids or loved ones to buy for, set a budget for each person as you are asking what gifts they want. This will help you pace your spending and focus on meeting your overall budget.
Save for more than gifts. Buying gifts is a huge part of your holiday spending. It can be easy to focus on gifts when you are budgeting and not account for the other items like decorations. Be sure to include food, decorations, and other expenses in your budget, not just gifts.
Set an amount and use cash. Set your budget to keep holiday spending under control. If it’s difficult for you to stick to your budget using debit or credit cards, pay in cash. Set aside your entire budget amount in cash and only use that to help you stay aware of how much you are spending.
Shop early for better deals. Give yourself more time to shop around and find the best deals. Take advantage of holiday sales and always look for promotions and coupons to help save money.
